Transforming Lives Through Health

Introduction

At VACCD, we are committed to offering tailored, effective treatment for adolescents facing substance use disorders. Our ASAM Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Services, developed in accordance with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) guidelines and Virginia’s Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) standards, provide a higher level of care and support specifically designed for young individuals. This program allows adolescents to receive intensive treatment while continuing their education and daily activities.

What Is ASAM Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Services for Adolescents?

ASAM Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP) are designed for adolescents who need a more structured and intensive level of care than standard outpatient services. This program is ideal for young individuals requiring comprehensive support but who do not need the 24-hour supervision of inpatient or residential treatment. It includes a rigorous schedule of therapy sessions and support services aimed at helping adolescents achieve and maintain recovery.

Key Features of Our ASAM Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Services for Adolescents:

  1. Intensive and Structured Care:Our IOP provides a structured schedule of therapy and support sessions, typically involving 9-19 hours of treatment per week. This allows adolescents to receive the intensive support they need while continuing to live at home and attend school.
  2. Personalized Treatment Plans:Each adolescent receives a comprehensive assessment and a personalized treatment plan that addresses their unique needs, strengths, and recovery goals. These plans are regularly reviewed and updated to ensure continued progress.
  3. Evidence-Based Therapies:Our program incorporates a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention strategies. These therapies are designed to effectively treat substance use disorders and support long-term recovery in adolescents.
  4. Group Therapy:Group therapy sessions provide a supportive environment where adolescents can share experiences, gain insights from peers, and build a sense of community. These sessions are facilitated by experienced therapists and cover topics relevant to adolescent development, recovery, and personal growth.
  5. Individual Counseling:One-on-one counseling sessions offer personalized support and guidance, focusing on exploring underlying issues, developing coping strategies, and setting and achieving personal recovery goals.
  6. Family Involvement:Family involvement is a crucial component of adolescent recovery. Our services include family therapy and educational sessions to help families understand substance use disorders, support their adolescent’s recovery, and improve family dynamics.
  7. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT):For adolescents who may benefit from medication to support their recovery, we offer Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) as part of our comprehensive IOP. MAT is integrated with counseling and behavioral therapies to provide a holistic approach to treatment.
  8. Life Skills and Relapse Prevention:Our program emphasizes the development of life skills and relapse prevention techniques. Adolescents learn practical skills to manage triggers, cope with stress, and maintain sobriety in everyday situations.
  9. Continuous Monitoring and Support:Our team provides ongoing monitoring and support to help adolescents stay on track with their recovery goals. Regular check-ins and progress evaluations ensure that treatment plans are adjusted as needed to meet evolving needs.
